   Originally my group was set to film the establishing shots around my school  yesterday  on  Wednesday  the 16 th . Due to my  absence,  we were not able to  shoot  becau se I was  supposed to bring the  selfie stick to film.  We have now decided on filming tomorrow, Friday the 18 th . In class today we talked  about  some of the  specific   dialogue  of the characters and did a small  reenactment   just to see how the  scenes  would play out.  One of my group members Olivia Swanson  showed the group some  PremierPro  tricks and details on how to  navigate  through the software.  I’m grateful to have a group member that is tech sav v y because that is one of my biggest weaknesses.  My group members and I also talked about the different wardrobe pieces that we could find for the characters.        This week my group and I are planning on shooting our establishing and title sequence  shots. Since our title sequence shots are in the  school,  we are fortunate enough to be able to  shoot  during the school day.  We were originally going to film those scenes on  Tuesday,  but we are now doing it Wednesday because we forgot to bring the selfie stick.  We are planning on do the shots in the front  entrance  of the school, the courtyard, outside lunch,  and  finally the hallways which will be leading to the detention room (our setting for the next 3 minu tes).  We are hoping to be able to film when the hallways are empty, so like maybe during our media studies class or after school on Wednesday.  Today we spoke to the actors and finalized their roles and what days we would need them to film. Creating a storyboard was a very eye-opening experience for me and my group members, I realized how unprepared I was. I did not thing about everything so specifically like how one should, scene-by-scene shot-by-shot. I did enjoy the concept very much it was a great way to brainstorm and analyze the way you are going to carry out each scene and what angles and mise-en-scene you will need. While reading the article “Storyboard your way to success” by James Higgins my group and I (Olivia Swanson and Makayla Tackman) learned that Walt Disney was the one who invented storyboarding to speed up planning by laying everything out at once. It reduces the amount of meeting needed and lays out all aspects of a scene, with the visual aspect in the sketches and the description to explain how everything will play out.
